Soybean harvest expected to accelerate in Argentina

The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts predominantly dry conditions over the upcoming week in Argentina’s main farming areas, which is anticipated to speed up the soybean harvesting process, Reuters reports.

It is noted that heavy rainfall throughout March and early April has hindered the harvest progress, bringing it below the five-year average and raising concerns about potential declines in oilseed yields. Analysts from the exchange predict that the soybean harvest for the current season in Argentina will reach approximately 48.6 million tons.

These delays in harvesting have also contributed to a reduction in soybean sales. Data from the Secretariat of Agriculture indicates that, as of April 16, farmers in Argentina had sold roughly 23.4% of the 2024/25 marketing year crop, marking the lowest sales level by this date in a decade.
